Research! Compare prices online, on ebay, in store and wherever else you can think of. This information will give you an idea of how good the deal really is.

Now you know what the motorbike gear is worth, set a price for yourself. If you are unable to get the price you want simply say 'thank-you' and walk away. The vendor will likely come after you and agree on your price.

Be polite. Remember, the vendor needs to make a profit also, and no, he did not insult your beautiful motorbike.

Point out any imperfections - it will get you a lower price.

Don't claim you can't afford the helmet/leathers. If you can't afford them you shouldn't be trying to buy them.

If you want a really good deal, go to a shop when its quiet, such as just before closing time. Some sales staff also have monthly targets to hit, so buying close to the end of the month is also a good strategy. Chances are they will agree a lower price to get their bonus.

Don't attach yourself to the bike gear, always be prepared to leave empty handed.

Once you start haggling, you are expected to buy once an agreement is reached.
